FAQ

A: Yes! If you chose not to submit a recording of your name via Name Coach—or if you missed the deadline—and you were on the degree list, your name is included. You may search for your individual slide on this page.

A: To request an edit to your slide, please send a note to Institute Events. We will coordinate with the Registrar’s Office regarding your record.

A: When you click on your slide, you will find buttons at the bottom of the page allowing you to download and copy the link.

A: Graduate recognition has been divided into 8 cohorts.

All undergraduates are presented together alphabetically by last name:

  • Bachelor of Science degree recipients

Advanced Degree Recipients are presented by School or College alphabetically by last name within each department or course. Departments are presented in numerical order (see a list of MIT Course numbers).

  • School of Architecture and Planning Advanced Degree Recipients
  • MIT Schwarzman College of Computing Advanced Degree Recipients
  • School of Engineering Advanced Degree Recipients
  • School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences Advanced Degree Recipients
  • Sloan School of Management Advanced Degree Recipients
  • School of Science Advanced Degree Recipients
  • Graduates of the MIT-WHOI Joint Program in Oceanography/Applied Ocean Science and Engineering

A: Those who receive more than one degree at a time are presented within the cohort of the primary degree. Bachelor of Science recipients who also received a Master’s degree are presented with the undergraduates. Note, however, that while dual degree recipients appear in one cohort only, both degrees are presented on the slide.

A: The names presented are those who were on the degree list in 2020. If you are not able to find your name, please send a note to Institute Events. We will consult the Registrar’s Office regarding the degree list.

A: If you submitted a recording of your name, Name Coach uses your phrasing, rather than that of the degree list, in creating the audio file. For example, if William Barton Rogers records, “Bill Rogers” as his pronunciation, that is how his name is announced. His diploma (and slide) would still say “William Barton Rogers.” The reading of names is simply part of the celebration and does not impact your records at MIT.
